The Belarusian Independent Film Academy is collecting projects for the next pitching session at the European Film Market "Berlinale"
30 Oct 2024
The Belarusian Independent Film Academy invites directors to submit their film projects, at various stages of development, as applications for participation in the upcoming pitching session for the international film community. The event will take place within the European Film Market of the 75th Berlin International Film Festival in February 2025. Up to ten participants will be selected from the submitted applications for pitching.

This will be the third consecutive European Film Market "Berlinale" where film projects from independent Belarusian filmmakers seeking partners and financing will be presented. The purpose of BIFA is to gather projects of fiction, documentary, and animated feature films, which, based on their format and ambitions, aim to develop in the international film industry and require support. Projects of hybrid genres are also considered.

The event at the Berlinale is planned as a pitching session in front of film industry professionals, representatives of international film institutions, and film festivals. Experts from Finland and Italy, Leena Pasanen and Stefano Tealdi, will again prepare the participants for the project presentations. They will join the members of the Board of the Film Academy, Irena Katsialovich and Igor Soukmanov, to select projects for participation in the pitching session.

For the first time, such an event took place at the EFM last year, where ten projects from Belarusian filmmakers were presented at the same venue in 2023, together with the newly established Belarusian Independent Film Academy. Directors such as Mara Tamkovich, Aliaksei Paluyan, Darya Zhuk, Andrei Kutsila, Sasha Kulak, and others presented their ideas at the BIFA events at the European Film Market.

To apply for participation in the pitching session, you need to fill out a special form in Belarusian and English by November 15.
