The Belarusian Independent Film Academy (BIFA) invites Belarusian filmmakers seeking European partners to submit projects with international potential for participation in the European Film Market (EFM) at Berlinale 2027. Feature-length fiction, documentary and animated films at various stages of development are eligible for consideration.
This year, filmmakers will once again be mentored in preparation for the European Film Market by Leena Pasanen, an independent film expert, consultant and tutor from Finland, and Stefano Tealdi, an Italian producer, director and documentary film expert.
The Belarusian Independent Film Academy has been supporting the participation of Belarusian filmmakers in the
European Film Market since 2023. Our goal is to build connections between independent Belarusian filmmakers and international partners – including producers, sales agents, film festivals and film funds – while increasing the visibility of Belarusian stories as part of the European cultural landscape.
Over the years, filmmakers who have presented their projects at BIFA events during the European Film Market include Darya Zhuk, Mara Tamkovich, Yury Semashko, Vlada Senkova, Andrei Kutsila, Nella Ahrenich, Volia Chajkouskaya, Andrei Kashperski and Mikhail Zui, Aliaksei Paluyan, Artsiom Lobach, and others.
The call is open to both established Belarusian filmmakers and emerging talents working independently of Belarus's state-funded film system. Projects will be selected by film critic Irena Kaciałovič and film scholar and festival organiser Igor Soukmanov.
Applications are open until
27 October 2026. To apply, please complete the
application form in both Belarusian and English.
The European Film Market will take place from 10 to 16 February 2027, as part of the 77th Berlin International Film Festival.
